MTSU Student Veterans Helping other MTSU Student and Veterans

Mission:

B.R.A.V.O. along with MTSU athletics, and the Smith – Rogers – Reeves at Stones River VFW Post 4575 here in Murfreesboro is holding a food drive starting October 2nd, and running through this years Salute to Service game on Saturday November 8th, 2025.

This food drive is meant to help restock the shelves at Nourish Food Bank here in Murfreesboro and the Student Food Pantry here at MTSU.

Veteran Impact:

Why you may ask, according to Feeding America 1 in 9 working age veterans go hungry. 24% of active duty service members were food insecure in 2020. And 1.2 million low income veterans are using SNAP benefits.

College Student Impact:

In 2020 the Government Accountability office said that nearly 3.8 million or 23% of undergraduates in America experienced some sort of food insecurity.

This food drive is aimed to help restock the shelves at Nourish Food Bank here in Murfreesboro, and the MTSU Student Food Pantry.

Current Community Partners:

VFW Post 4575 – because if we can collect 500lbs, 1000lbs, or 1500lbs of food the VFW National along with Humana Insurance will match pound for pound. In other words double the impact.

MTSU athletics are going to be collecting at sporting events for two weeks leading up to the salute game on November 8TH

The Daniels Center in the KUC will have a drop box starting October 2nd, extra points on Trivia Thursday if you bring in food items.
